Get to Know Me
Working together to improve how you feel.
I have been passionate about helping people with their difficulties with mental health for as long as I can remember.
I began my career after University working at 'The Priory' psychiatric hospital in Chelmsford, Essex. This experience helped me to understand the difficulties patients were experiencing as well as learning how to develop a therapeutic relationship with people who were really struggling with low mood and anxiety.
From there I completed my PGDip in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and have throughly enjoyed working with clients on a 1:1 basis in the public and private sector.
CBT is one of the most evidence based therapies for anxiety and depression due to us working together and most importantly providing you with tools and techniques to manage your difficulties both during and after sessions.
Life can get difficult, and sometimes a little help from a professional Cognitive Behavourial Therapist can make things better. I care about your well-being and provide you with the helpful tools you need in order to seize the day and learn how to identify unhelpful behaviours, thoughts and feelings to improve your wellbeing.
I have completed lots of additional training since completing my CBT course in 2013 and can use these additional techniques to help you manage your difficulties differently. I am very enthusiastic about using both Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness techniques to ensure you have the tools you need for a happier frame of mind.
"The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind"
A Bit About Therapy
Working together to help improve your mood
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is one of the most evidence based types of talking therapy. It is recommended for a variety of anxiety and mood disorders in NICE guidelines and is delivered on a 1:1 basis.
The first session is an assessment session to get more information about the main difficulties you are experiencing. Then we work together to develop a 'road map' of what may have led to the current difficulties and most importantly what is maintaining them now?
CBT sessions are usually 50 minutes long (the assessment session may be slightly longer) and initially take place on a weekly basis.
Goals are really important to think about for this type of therapy to be effective as in the sessions we will be working together using a variety of different techniques to work towards these goals to improve your mood.
Homework is also an essential part of therapy as this really helps to make long lasting improvements by practicing techniques in between the therapy sessions.
